Royal Ascot 2023 Saturday Races Preview: Expert Tips & Exciting Lineup
Royal Ascot 2023 Races: Ascot Racecourse Gears Up for Exciting Saturday Fixtures
Ascot Racecourse is set to host an action-packed Saturday of racing, with Mail Sport’s expert Robin Goodfellow delivering his tips for the day’s meetings at Haydock, Ascot, Lingfield, Huntingdon, and Wolverhampton.
At Ascot, Goodfellow’s nap selection is Laura’s Breeze (11:30), while Folk Star (2:53) is his next best. The expert has also highlighted several promising contenders for Nicky Henderson, including:
- Excello (12:55)
- Shishkin (1:30)
- Theatre Glory (2:05)
- Tradecraft (3:50)
- Park Hill Dancer (Haydock, 1:15)
Jockey Daryl Jacob will be making his presence felt, taking the ride on Bravemansgame (Haydock, 3:00), a race he has won three times before. Jacob also has chances with I Love My Baie (Haydock, 12:05) and Carnfunnock (Haydock, 1:15).
Trainer Peter Atkinson, who operates a small yard of just two horses in North Yorkshire, will be aiming for a big payday with Fingal’s Hill (Haydock, 1:15), which is chasing a first prize of over £25,000. The horse has an impressive record of three wins and a third from four runs this season.
Racegoers should also keep an eye out for Apple Away (Haydock, 1:50), who ended last season with a Grade One novice hurdle victory at Aintree. The mare faces a stern test against Gaillard Du Mesnil, the Grand National third, in her novice chasing debut, but she receives a significant weight concession.
At Wolverhampton, trainer Charlie Appleby will be hoping to continue his recent success in the Stay Golden Novice Stakes, unleashing debutant Bold Style (5:45) under jockey James Doyle.
With a wealth of intriguing storylines and a stellar lineup of equine talent, the upcoming Saturday fixtures at Royal Ascot 2023 are sure to captivate racing enthusiasts.
