Royal Ascot 2023 Preview: Rising Star Vandeek Ready to Shine
Ascot Racecourse Hosts Thrilling Royal Ascot 2023 Preview
Ascot Racecourse witnessed a remarkable display on Saturday, as trainer Simon Crisford’s talented filly, Oh So Grand, clinched the BetMGM Winter Oaks handicap with a blistering performance. While the victory was certainly satisfying, Crisford’s attention has already shifted to his stable’s rising star, Vandeek, who is poised to make waves in the upcoming season.
Vandeek’s Promising Future
Vandeek, who gave the Crisford team their first Group One success last summer, stormed to victory in the Prix Morny at Deauville and followed up with a dominant display in Newmarket’s Middle Park Stakes. Crisford has outlined an ambitious plan for the exuberant colt, with Haydock Park’s Sandy Lane Stakes set to launch Vandeek’s three-year-old campaign, before the talented runner is aimed at the prestigious Royal Ascot meeting.
“All eyes are on Vandeek, and we have been really happy with him over the winter,” Crisford revealed. “He’s trotting, looks great, and has filled out a bit. We’ve got fingers crossed for a great campaign for him. He’s going to be very busy in the second half of the season.”
The Crisford stable’s confidence in Vandeek’s potential is palpable, and racing enthusiasts will eagerly await the colt’s performance as the 2023 season unfolds, with the Royal Ascot meeting in June 2023 and the 2024 edition firmly in the team’s sights.
