Oisin Murphy Rides Ramatuelle in Coronation Stakes Clash at Royal Ascot 2023
Royal Ascot 2023: Oisin Murphy to Ride Ramatuelle in Coronation Stakes Clash
Oisin Murphy, the three-time champion jockey, has secured the coveted ride on Ramatuelle, the French filly, at the upcoming Royal Ascot meeting. Ramatuelle, owned by a consortium led by former NBA star Tony Parker, is a leading contender for the prestigious Coronation Stakes next Friday.
Murphy, who serves as the first rider for Qatar Racing, has a connection to Ramatuelle‘s ownership group and they are eager to capitalize on his expertise around the Ascot circuit. The jockey previously rode Alcohol Free to victory in the Coronation Stakes in 2021.
Ramatuelle narrowly missed out on winning the QIPCO 1000 Guineas last month, finishing third behind the 28/1 winner, Elmalka. Elmalka, Fallen Angel (winner of the Irish 1000 Guineas), and Rouhiya (winner of the French equivalent) are all expected to feature in the Coronation Stakes, along with Aidan O’Brien’s Opera Singer, the champion juvenile filly from last season.
“The milers are something incredible when they are good – they have charisma, they have personality. Ramatuelle has got something about her, trust me. For me, this is going to be the race of the year. All the things she has given to us, it would be justice for her to win a Group One.”
- Trainer Christopher Head
With a talented jockey like Oisin Murphy in the saddle, Ramatuelle will be aiming to deliver a winning performance and secure a coveted Group One victory at the prestigious Royal Ascot meeting.
