Rising Star Jockey David Egan Joins Amo Racing’s Roster in Two-Year Deal

In a significant move within the world of horse racing, talented jockey David Egan has signed a two-year contract to become the first retained rider for Amo Racing, the venture of renowned owner Kia Joorabchian. The 24-year-old Egan, who has already proven his prowess on the track, will now have the opportunity to showcase his skills regularly at the highest level.

Egan’s association with Amo Racing’s purple silks is nothing new, as he previously rode Mojo Star to a remarkable second-place finish in the 2021 Epsom Derby, defying odds of 50-1. Now, with this new long-term partnership, Egan will have the chance to build on his impressive resume, which includes victories in prestigious races around the world.

“I am very pleased to announce David as our first jockey,” Joorabchian stated. “We’ve had a brilliant relationship over the years, and it’s the perfect time to consolidate our team. Having David on board will be a valuable addition.”

The flagship horse that Egan will have the privilege of riding is King Of Steel, the Roger Varian-trained and Frankie Dettori-ridden champion who clinched a remarkable victory in the QIPCO Champion Stakes at Ascot in October.

Egan’s Excitement and Future Aspirations

Egan, whose Classic triumphs include the 2022 St Leger and the 2023 Irish St Leger aboard Varian-trained Eldar Eldarov, expressed his excitement about the new challenge.

“I’m excited about this challenge,” he said. “Royal Ascot, the results, the dresses, and the dress code – this partnership with Amo Racing will undoubtedly provide me with the platform to compete at the highest level in the years to come.”

This strategic move by Amo Racing not only strengthens their team but also demonstrates their commitment to nurturing the next generation of top-tier jockeys. As Egan embarks on this new chapter, Ascot Racecourse enthusiasts eagerly await the impact he will have on the 2023 and 2024 royal meeting seasons.
