Treasure Marks Comeback with Fourth-Place Finish at Lingfield Oaks Trial

Treasure, the grey filly owned by The King and Queen, made a promising return to action at Lingfield, finishing fourth in the Oaks Trial. The performance has connections eyeing a tilt at the Ribblesdale Stakes during the upcoming Royal Ascot meeting.

The two-year-old, who captured her lone start last October at Nottingham, put in a game effort under jockey Rossa Ryan, sticking to her task despite ultimately finishing behind stablemate You Got To Me. While pleased with Treasure’s display, trainer Ralph Beckett believes the Royal Ascot contest may prove a more suitable target than the Epsom Oaks.

“She will come on plenty for that run,” said the Hampshire-based Beckett. “But I don’t think we can go to Epsom on the back of that. Maybe the Ribblesdale? But she will come on plenty for it.”

The Ribblesdale Stakes, a Group 2 event run over a mile and a half at Royal Ascot, has emerged as the likely next step for Treasure as she continues her progression towards the 2023 royal meeting. The prestigious Ascot fixture, set to unfold from June 20-24, 2023, remains the primary focus for the promising filly’s connections.
