2024 Royal Ascot: Avoiding Clash with Euro 2024 for Soccer Fans
The 2024 Royal Ascot: Navigating the Clash with Euro 2024
Published: June 6, 2024 | Updated: June 6, 2024
The highly anticipated 2024 Royal Ascot is set to take place from June 18 to 22, overlapping with the group stage of the UEFA European Championship. In a strategic move, Ascot bosses have announced a series of key changes to the event’s running times to avoid potential conflicts between the two prestigious sporting events.
One notable clash that has been addressed is the scheduling of the Gold Cup, the feature race of the week, which was initially set to coincide with England’s clash against Denmark on June 20. To prevent this overlap, the Gold Cup has now been rescheduled to run at 4:25 PM, more than half an hour before the football match’s kickoff.
Similarly, other marquee races such as the St James’s Palace Stakes, Prince of Wales’ Stakes, and Coronation Stakes will also take place at 4:25 PM on their respective days, all airing live on ITV. These strategic adjustments have resulted in the reshuffling of various other races throughout the week’s program.
“This year we have worked with our broadcast partners to make a few changes to the running order and timings in order to maximize exposure of the Group 1 races with the men’s UEFA European Championships also taking place this June.” – Will Aitkenhead, Ascot’s head of corporate and industry affairs
Fans attending the 2024 Royal Ascot can look forward to enjoying the races while also keeping up with the ongoing European Championship. Ascot has confirmed that the England-Denmark match will be displayed on big screens across the venue, allowing racegoers to stay updated on the latest football action.
With the Royal Ascot’s rich history and the excitement of the Euro 2024, this year’s edition promises to be a thrilling blend of equestrian excellence and football fervour. Ascot’s proactive approach in addressing the scheduling conflicts ensures that both events can be celebrated to the fullest by their respective enthusiasts.
